My Arrival

So since I haven't explained why I ended up in this city I'll go ahead and explain! I was born in Houston (home of Beyonce; hair flip) but raised a little south of there in the small town of Lake Jackson (home of Selena Quintanilla-Perez). Everyone around me seemed to have completely different interests compared to me. They all loved trucks, country music, going mudding and shooting guns (which I did try a few times and have to admit I was pretty bad ass) but that wasn't for me. I enjoyed playing and learning about music, drawing and just basically anything creative, so living there didn't give me much opportunity to further my interests.

Towards the end of my junior year of high school my uncle who had moved to New York a year before offered me the chance to live with him. I'd been dreaming of living there for as long as I could remember, so I said yes! Exactly a week after graduating a year after the offer I arrived to the city that will hopefully change my life.

At the moment I'm attending a community college to study nursing, getting lost in these large streets and trying to create a social life. Hopefully this move will be worth everything I gave up back home. I guess we'll see...

Teenage Adele

I'd like to put the spotlight on Ella Henderson this week. She came in 6th place on the UK version of the X Factor in 2012, since then I've been anxiously awaiting to hear ANYTHING from her. After a year and a half my wait was finally over! She released her first single "Ghost" in May of 2014, which immediately climbed all the way to number one in the UK charts and stayed there for two weeks.

Since then she has released the singles "Glow" and "Hard Work", which shows off her vocals epically. She has the vocals that compares to Adele and has soulfulness that compares to Amy Winehouse, but has more of a pop flare that can keep people my age interested in her. In my opinion she's the best artist to never win the X Factor. I'm currently obsessed with her and I hope you'll check her out if you haven't already.

Listen to the song the brought me to tears here:
